Community Services Report - February

1.  The February 5th blood drive was a little slower than we like to see and I am working with the blood center to see what it's going to take to get folks more motivated to donate. We had a goal to collect 24 units of blood.  We registered 27 units but were only able to collect 15 units.  I would like to thank everyone that made an attempt to donate.  Our next blood drive will be April 2nd.

2. Project Topeka is in full swing. Angie's OIC committe has chosen to do a cash campaign with a goal to raise $500. A raffle as incentive to donate will be held. Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5.  The campaign will run thru the end of February.  There will be a Cram-a-Van event this Saturday at Hyvee from 10-2.  $5 and $10 prebagged bags of groceries will be available for sale and given to Project Topeka. The Cram-a-Van event is Saturday only but the bags will be available for sale Friday - Sunday.

3.  Kevin Tinsley has indeed resigned as a steward so if there is anything you would like the Community Services Committee to look at please let me know.

Community Services Report - March

Our February 5th blood drive didn't produce the results we are used to seeing but the Community Blood Center had more blood at the end of the day compared to where they started. We registered 27 donors and collected 11 or 12 units. We had many deferrals due to low iron which can sometimes happen coming out of the holiday eating season. I would like to thank everyone that did attemp to donate.  The next blood drive is April 2.

The official campaign for Project Topeka has ended but donations are accepted year round. The AT&T employees at 220, through the OIC, raised over $600 and Barb Conley won a raffle associated with the project. We donated over $540, about 821 pounds of food, to Project Topeka. Thank you 220 employees!

This Saturday, Project Topeka volunteers will be sorting food at the Prairie Land Foods warehouse from 9-2 so the food can be given to the agencies quickly. If you are interested in this great volunteer opportunity, please contact Bryan Beall at 640-6980.

I'd like to thank Jason for giving this report in my absence.

If there are any items you'd like the Community Services Committee to look at please contact Bryan Beall.

Respectfully submitted,
Bryan J. Beall
